ICC (Intercomunication Center) in Tokyo is an historical institution for media culture in Japan. Funded by NTT (the national major telephone company) it has been amongst the first place where new media has been studied and exhibited in the last decade, connecting a specific local approach with international discourse and confront. Exhibitions like Sounding Spaces, Future Cinema, Connecting worlds or Open Nature have clearly showed a different perspective on digital culture, fostering japanese artists to engage with digital technology, so creating a new generation. The ICC ten years anniversary will be celebrated with a series of events that will start with an exhibition on ICC chronology and a symposium during the next weekend, titled The Future of Media x Art. Guests will be: Alex Adriaansen, founder of V2_, Soh-Yeong Roh, director of Art Center Nabi, Masaki Fujihata, media artist and teacher, Seko Mikami, media artist and teacher, Minoru Hatanaka, ICC Curator, Kuzanao Abe, director of Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media, Alessandro Ludovico, chief editor of Neural.it, Casey Reas co-initiator of the language Processing, Shiro Takatani member of Dumb Type artist group and Yukiko Shikata, ICC Curator.
