CD - Cronica Electronica
This release by the Portuguese label Cronica Electronica is a very interesting collection of experimental productions, esoteric and diluted in their sequences, abstractions with an environmental slant and dream-like in the tracks by Pawel Grabowski, a Polish-born composer now living in Ireland, who works with the netlabel 'Silence Is Not Empty'. The tracks by Jorge Mantas are equally rarefied. Using the moniker 'The Beautiful Schizophonic', he introduces us to suggestions, drones and post-romantic digital landscapes, equally fine elaborations of a sensitivity that mixes novelties with more traditional sounds. Only one track for James Eck Rippie and Paulo Raposo, a track that's jumpy at the beginning and deconstructs the sound materials used, integrating them in a synthetic-organic mixture, full of feedbacks, field recordings and turntablist manipulations. Worthy of mention is also the artwork by Casey B. Read, a designer interested to dynamic systems and communicative iterations in the computer science field.
