Orla Wren - Butterfly Wings Make

Orla Wren, Butterfly Wings Make, Expanding Records, orlawren_butterfly.jpg CD - Expanding Records
The atypical multimedia artist Orla Wren goes around Scotland in his motorhome, composing extremely delicate music, selling pictures of plants and insects, macros of organic life taken by himself, with an existential attitude halfway between a freak from the Seventies and a Twelfth Century poet. The new digital experiments movement includes artists like this. It's more than natural, in this particular case, for his work to be the confluence of traditional acoustic music and ethereal synthetic manipulations. Glitchy folktronic music, dense and internally coherent, genuine in its melodic abstractions and its spontaneous jumps. It's a beautiful and moving album that proves how much Expanding Records is active in electronic music.
