CD + booklet - Unsounds
This is the fifth release by the composer and sound designer Yannis Kyriakides, a project made of twelve different electronic tracks based on interviews extracted from the archives of BNA-BBOT of Brussels. This project wonderfully edits only those hesitations, pauses, breaths, subtle emotions which are a natural part of the flow of the interviews and modulates them into musical structures based on synthesized sounds, waves, resonances, pulses and noises. This apparently simple idea produces great results that surpass the nice and poetical original intuition. The rhythms of speech, hidden but still present, the emotion in the language, the intimate nature of the recording, each person's way of expressing himself are a true point of reference, a distinctive footprint that the artist uses, without any conceptual complication, for the simple pleasure of making an important aesthetic product. It's a perfectly executed operation that places this production among the most important in the last years.
