CD - Ever/Audioglobe
Enthralling sequences by the Amiina in 'Kurr', the debut album of an Icelandic quartet of female musicians who artfully compose dream-like and melodic textures, simple but fascinating, rarefied and shy, as is, to us, the spirit of those who live in those intriguing Nordic lands (which have already given us artists like Björk, Múm and Sigur Rós). The immediateness of the listening experience, however, hides remarkable melodic airs, an abstract ambient mood, together with child-like sounds and hypnotic lullabies. It's a breath of fresh air and serenity in the summer heat, even though, among the melancholic moments and some insisted elegiac iterations, everything is not so reassuring.
